Will Eisner EISNER, WILL - Nubbin The Shoeshine Boy daily, very rare prototype example by Eisner. Two original panels + two missing panels recreated. 1940s
Artists: Will Eisner All Nubbins, the Shoeshine Boys Art by Will Eisner The great Will Eisner wanted to sell a second comic feature after the successful launch of the Spirit into newspapers around the country. One of his frustrations during the 1940's was his inability to close a deal for any others, such as this rare example: Nubbin the Shoeshine Boy. Nubbin was fashioned as a male alternative to the iconic Little Orphan Annie and was shopped around to many strip syndicates in 1946 after Eisner's return from military service. Eisner loved the character and incorporated him into many of his comic book stories including his John Law title and many Spirit stories in the late 1940's. Original dimensions: 22" x 7 1/4"
