"Captain America--Hero or Hoax?" Script by Steve Englehart

A new era for the star-spangled avenger opens with an epic fight between the Sentinel of Liberty and the Director of SHIELD! Oh my, what are the two icons from World War II fighting about? Actually, it's who: La Contessa Valentina Allegra de la Fontaine. Once the no-holds-barred conflict ends, changes are made. Agent 13 quits SHIELD, and Steve and Sharon fly to the Bahamas for vacation. In the meantime in Harlem, the Falcon is shocked to see Captain America beating up a local resident. He knows Steve Rogers is out of the country. So who is this person? And why is his accomplice dressed like Bucky Barnes? First appearance of William Burnside in the silver or bronze age.
Cameo appearances by Leila Taylor and Redwing. (Notes: Several years later Jack Monroe will become the second Nomad. This issue begins Steve Englehart's classic 3-year run as the writer of the Captain America 1st series.)
