Bobby London

LONDON, BOBBY - National Lampoon Dirty Duck Sunday, March 1973. Duck needs sex every 30 days...or else!

Media Type: Pen and Ink
Art Type: Strip Art
Artists: Bobby London All

Bobby London - National Lampoon Magazine, Dirty Duck Sunday style complete story (NatLamp, March 1973).
Dirty Duck goes looking for love in all the wrong places in this striking example of self-censorship by pioneering Underground Comix artist London. The conspicuously erotic final panel (underneath published version) has a tamer, published panel, hinge attached on top, that suggests a "tasteful" alteration in advance of press deadline.
London first made waves in the infamous Air Pirate Funnies books, which provoked a Disney Corp. lawsuit over the unauthorized depiction of Mickey Mouse et Al. London progressed to National Lampoon and Playboy, and then to big-league King Features Syndicate as an official Popeye artist. This composition employs ink and blue pencil on Bristol board. Image area, 17.5" x 12".
