George Herriman archy and mehitabel Illustration pinup
Original Art (Doubleday, 1927).
"and piously he said a grace." From the first of the three Don Marquis books illustrated by George Herriman, it was for the Archy poem titled "aesop revised by archy".

This illustration, of a wolf piously saying grace over some lamb ribs, bears a resemblance to Herriman's character Don Kiyote from Krazy Kat.
